Sony Corp. on Wednesday began offering software upgrades free for more than half a million users worldwide a bug that could respond to an overheating of its popular Vaio Sony  laptops battery.

So far, no injuries have been reported, but said the electronics company, has a total of 39 reports of problems, including 26 obtained in the United States, with users complaining about the heat and the distortion of the shape of their computers and laptop battery, the company said.

The problem may be global for a total of 535,000 Vaio laptop, mainly U.S. users, but also other countries in Europe, Japan and the rest of Asia.
