I think that it is safe to say that the iPhone is fairly popular. It seems that as of late you can’t look at any gadget/tech blog without some mention of it. The App Store offers a myriad of programs, games and utilities, and there are all sorts of third party Sony VGP-BPS8  accessories available.

Even for those Mac users that don’t have an iPhone (like myself) this is a good thing, as it seriously contributes to Apple’s bottom line, which means more money in the coffers for Macintosh R&D as well iTunes/iPhone/iPod and Apple PowerBook G4 Battery.

Unfortunately, with wild popularity comes increased scrutiny. As a result, when something goes wrong with the iPhone, there is often a large backlash.

Just this sort of thing has happened with the recent release of iPhone OS 3.1. It seems that many users are experiencing rapid discharging of the A1060 battery since updating.

In perusing Apple’s support forums, there are a number of threads, like this one, detailing the woes of those who have installed iPhone OS 3.1 on their iPhones only to experience rapid discharging of the battery. Even after turning off some of the noted Apple A1045 battery-draining processes, such as wi-fi, bluetooth, and push notifications, people have been experiencing a reduction in battery life.

In some cases, it seems attached to a corrupt file or application in the iPhone. In these instances, restoring the iPhone and creating a new profile (rather than importing old information) seemed to resolve the issue. Unfortunately for many others Apple A1061, even after performing this procedure, the problem still remains.

Apparently, though, Apple has responded to the issue and has distributed a small battery tracking application, along with a short list of troubleshooting questions, to many posters on the above-mentioned thread.

Judging by the wide range of this problem and Apple’s response, is is very likely that we will soon see another update to iPhone OS that will resolve this issue cause by Apple A1079. Until that time, though, iPhone users are left to deal with the problem themselves.

Fortunately, OWC is here to help. While we can’t fix the underlying problem —that’s Apple’s domain— we’ve at least got a temporary solution for your power problems: extended battery packs.

LNT Battery Change

After a long period of running out of time, the sight of the moon as we drove home this evening was enough to drive me to change the battery in the LNT module sitting atop my Meade LX90. It didn’t take long and was easier than the instructions had led me to think it would be. The change was followed by some recalibration (as required) and all seemed to work quite well.

The alignment wasn’t perfect, but it was done in a rush and I hope it’ll get better as I’m able to take more time.

I also tried attaching the D300 to the scope. The proved to be a huge improvement over the D70 as the exposure metering works – which proved useful in saving time and wasted images Once again, the biggest problem was getting the focus spot on – but that’s something I need to work on.

iPhone 3G second impressions – Freezing, battery life and awesome apps

I have had the iPhone 3G for 6 days now and we have developed an intense love/hate relationship. It is exactly what I want in a phone when it comes to multimedia browsing but there have been some serious drawbacks for my Apple A1079 Apple A1175.

When I first got the phone and setup iTunes, I went absolutely crazy with the free apps. This was probably a bad idea because the phone has been crashing quite a bit. I have about 175 applications on the phone and because I’m constantly opening and closing applications, I think the phone shuts off like someone who got too drunk too early with my Apple iBook G4 Battery.

The lesson: Try only a few applications at a time and be strict about what applications you keep on your device and which ones you leave on your computer such as Apple PowerBook G4 Battery.

Now if you are going to download a free app for your iPhone, I seriously recommend downloading iPint by Carling. It lets you drink a virtual beer! No calories, no mess but no drunk. Everything is a compromise except Presario R3000 Battery.

The battery life on the iPhone 3G is a tough call. It totally depends on how much you use the battery intensive programs like the GPS of  Dell Inspiron E1705 Battery. To help you get the most from your laptop battery, here are seven easy ways to make it last longer.

1. Change power settings

Two month ago, my Dell E1505 battery failed after its 1 year warranty. So I should buy a new one for my coming holiday in Hawaii. Now I will never shopping in Ebay or Amazon. As you know you buy someone there, and no guarantee of the product, also the money refund is impossible. And you can not cancel the order. So I decide use my paypal to buy the Dell inspiron E1505 battery.

I searched the Inspiron E1505 Battery in google and found search resault. Then I click some of them, after long time comparison I order a battery from http://www.discount-laptopbattery.com as Its price and 30 days money back and one year quality warranty. After 7days I recevied the battery and below is my battery using experience:

I was getting three red flashes and one green flash continuously on the battery light on the lower right side of the lid which according to the manual means defective battery which turned out to be true. I trashed the cheap Latitude D820 Battery (which I noticed was rated at 5200 ma vs the rating of 7200 on the Amazon battery)because I did not save the receipt. I am thrilled with this battery which is giving me about 3 hours before needing a charge, and charges to 100% overnight with no problem.

It works well with my 1505. I got 4 + hours out of this per charge. Saw some other people having problem with recognizing the batteries. When I was doing research for purchasing a replacement Latitude D620 Battery, I came across a lot of discussions online about Dell laptop not recognizing batteries. I wonder if that is a common issue with Dell. Luckily, mine has no problem. :)
Everything is good. As long as it can last 1 year or so, It would be worth the money spent.

Owned for 5+ months. I am pleased with this Latitude D830 Battery I was glad to find it at a price much lower than Dell was selling it. It was a great buy. Product came right when I needed it and has worked great for me! Good battery life.

In all The battery is compatible and works well with the Vostro 1000. Instructions are confusing. I simply installed and followed good battery practices – completely charged the battery, completely drained the battery, then repeated.

Researchers creating a nuclear powered battery

Man has long been on a quest for a better battery such as Sony VGP-BPS2C. This has resulted in some less then ideal solutions, such as the potato battery (it was half baked) and the onion battery (too smelly). Finally, researchers at the University of Missouri have developed a smaller, more efficient, and hopefully radiation free nuclear Dell D5318 battery.

To be fair, there are already a few nuclear batteries around, but the problem with them is they break down rather quickly. This is due to the obvious problem of radioactivity causing the semiconductor to break down. The current versions of the nuclear batteries are used in satellites and pacemakers.

Where the innovation comes in, is the size and how it’s made. The researchers have stated that their goal is to create a battery that is the size of a penny, using a liquid instead of a solid semiconductor. The long term goal, is to take the technology even farther to the newest Dell Latitude D620 Battery, and create a nuclear battery that is smaller then the thickness of a human hair. Sounds like a great idea to me.

University of Missouri engineers are building a nuclear Dell GK479 battery the size of a penny. Their aim is to develop a long-lasting power source for tiny sensors, actuators, and labs-on-a-chip.
